Profile

Burcu Sezen holds a Ph.D. in Marketing. From 2005 to 2010, she worked industry-wide in product and brand management in companies such as Hizli Sistem, Coca-Cola Bottlers Group in Turkey, and Nestlé Turkey. She oversaw the management of brands as diverse as Logitech, Viewsonic, BenQ, Cappy (Coca-Cola), and Maggi.

Her experience in multi-brand companies intrigued her interest in the dynamics of brands within a company’s portfolio. Burcu’s research has also focused on studying branding in general and brand portfolios and global branding in particular. Having grown up, studied, and worked in many different countries, she is sensitive to and fascinated by the role culture plays in marketing.

Burcu holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration from Ozyegin University in Istanbul, Turkey. She holds two master’s degrees, one in European Studies from a joint program of the University of Bath and L’Institut d’Etudes Politiques-Paris and an MBA from Sabanci University in Istanbul. During her Ph.D., she also spent a period as a visiting graduate student at UCLA in Los Angeles, USA.

She also completed a Marketing Certificate Program at UCSD, San Diego, USA, where she first discovered her passion for marketing.
