Admissions and Financial Aid

Admissions Criteria

  • Students graduating from high school in Colombia must take the Prueba Saber 11° (ICFES state exam). Due to the structure of the Prueba Saber 11°, there is no minimum score to apply. Application does not imply admission to the University. (Click here for more information.)
  • Students (Colombians or foreigners) who graduated abroad may apply if they have high school diplomas or international test scores validated by the University. (Click here for more information.)
  • Colombian or foreign students who have studied and passed at least two semesters (with grades) at another university in Colombia or abroad may apply through the External Transfer process.
  • The Universidad de los Andes does not conduct interviews as part of its admissions process.


If you are an international student, please note that according to Decree 4000 of November 30, 2004 and Resolution 4700 of November 25, 2009, issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, you are required to have a Student Visa or other type of visa that allows you to study. You must present this visa at teller windows 2 or 3 in the Admissions Office or send an email to in order to fulfill this legal requirement before printing your registration receipt.

Be sure to give yourself sufficient time when beginning the procedure for applying for a visa in order to avoid any problems with the registration payment.
