What is CAP?

The Academic Center for Teaching Cases (CAP) is a specialized center focused on the review, mentorship, and publication of high-quality teaching cases for management education. Its emphasis on decision-based learning in real-world contexts is reflected in a set of distinctive strengths that position it as a unique actor in its field:

Global reach

Cases that go beyond the classroom and reach international platforms such as Harvard Business Impact, Ivey Publishing, and The Case Centre.

Leadership

We are the only center focused on the creation and strengthening of cases, simulations, and active methodologies for management education.

Academic connections

With regional and international networks such as CBCC, SEKN, BALAS, and CLADEA to support the global dissemination of cases and methodologies.

Management education

Through cases and simulations focused on decision-making, data analysis, and the resolution of ethical dilemmas in real-world contexts.

Latin American focus

Cases focused on real-world challenges and decision-making within the Latin American context.

Our methodology

We use a structured support process that guides faculty from the initial case concept through validation and preparation for publication. Through specialized mentorship, iterative development based on real-world situations, and a dual review system aligned with international standards, CAP strengthens the pedagogical and narrative quality of cases, ensuring their relevance for decision-making and their projection in global academic settings.

What is a teaching case?

A teaching case is an instructional strategy that consists of the description of a real situation experienced by a company, an individual, or a community, and is used as a starting point for a professor-guided discussion aimed at collectively building knowledge. Although it is widely used in business schools, its use has expanded to disciplines such as the social sciences, basic sciences, and health sciences.

Ethical use of teaching cases

It is important that faculty members use these resources through the platforms that disseminate these collections in order to make an ethical and legitimate use of these tools in teaching.
