The Ph.D. in Management from Universidad de los Andes was created in response to the need to develop and lead high-quality research in the area of management, both in Latin America and specifically Colombia. It is designed and structured according to international trends from the leading management schools in the world.
This program seeks to extend knowledge in management with a focus on the Latin American and Colombian contexts. It trains researchers and teachers to improve the quality of management studies in Colombia, as well as contribute to the development of the research community in management and improve the practices of public and private management in Colombia and Latin America.

The program’s curricular structure allows the Ph.D. student to enrich his or her research by taking more elective credits. This will be defined with guidance from the respective thesis director.
The Ph.D. in Management program is the only program in the country with a degree component for developing an international internship. The program can meet this requirement because the school have been trained abroad, and the professors constantly publish articles with international researchers, positioning the school’s research at an international level.
The program is recognized in the national academic environment. Graduates of the program have been hired even before graduation and have maintained an average production capacity of one article every two years.

The Universidad de los Andes School of Management is the only institution in the country with a triple accreditation recognition. It is also the only one with a staff of around 78 full-time professors, 87% of whom have Ph.D. training and are qualified to facilitate the doctoral research process.
The Ph.D. Program is part of EDAMBA (European Doctoral Programs Association in Management and Business Administration), thus allowing direct access to high-quality doctoral programs in Europe.
At the national level, the program has been accredited by the CNA (National Accreditation Council) for eight years, making it the doctoral program in managment with the most prolonged period of accreditation. This accreditation allows it to access funding sources that are only assigned to accredited programs.

Applicants to the Ph.D. in Management program must have a university degree. They must demonstrate academic excellence and motivation to learn and advance research processes related to the school’s research areas.
The candidate must demonstrate competence in understanding and communicating in an academic context. Likewise, they must have an intermediate knowledge of English that allows them to understand academic texts. Applicants must be available for their studies on a full-time and dedicated basis.

The Ph.D. in Management program alumni will be independent researchers who will lead research projects in Management in their organizations. They will be characterized by their excellent communication skills in scientific and academic settings. They will be able to internalize, integrate and develop knowledge in their specific area and respond to the ethical aspects of their decisions.
