The course starts by observing that large corporations typically face difficulties in adopting disruptive radical innovations: they tend to do poorly when markets suddenly shift. One reason is that large firms lack some of the flexibility and innovative power of small and new entrepreneurial ventures.
Corporate entrepreneurship asks the question: How can large established corporations retain their entrepreneurial spirit? The course explores the reasons underlying the inability of large firms to adapt, and then looks at how organizations can be redesigned for corporate entrepreneurship. It discusses topics like corporate venturing and corporate venture capital.
