FAQS

Which courses can I get credit for?

We cannot guarantee which courses you will be able to get credit for, as this is determined by the pre-approval process through the university’s platform (homologaciones.uniandes.edu.co), where you will be asked to upload the syllabus of the courses and the code for which you want to get credit at Uniandes. However, here are some tips to give you an idea of which courses you can submit for pre-approval:

  • Historical Data: In Bloque Neon, you can find the historical data of courses that have been approved from different universities, which can give you an initial idea of which courses you might be able to get credit for (this does not guarantee they will be approved).
  • Course Comparison: Look for courses at your destination university that, based on their name, sound similar to a Uniandes course. Request the syllabus from the destination university and compare it with the Uniandes syllabus. If you consider that both syllabus cover the same content, you can submit the course for pre-approval.
  • Look for Management courses at your destination university that are not offered at Uniandes. These courses can be submitted for pre-approval as generic electives in the different areas of management.

How is the course equivalency process?

I. Determine Courses: Identify which courses you want to submit for pre-approval.

II. Request syllabus: Obtain the syllabus for these courses from the destination university.

III. Submit Pre-Approval Request: Submit the pre-approval request through the university’s course equivalency platform.

IV. Approval Confirmation: Once the pre-approval is granted, you can be assured that passing the course will result in the equivalency being approved.

V. Complete and approve Courses: Take and approve the courses during your exchange.

VI. Finalize Equivalency Process: Complete the equivalency process on the platform.

Application process for exchange and double degree programs

  • Requirements to apply (for both double degrees and exchanges): Refer to the institutional web page for the application requirements. https://internacionalizacion.uniandes.edu.co/movilidad/estudiante-uniandino/estudiante-pregrado-uniandes
  • Application dates and processes: Refer to the institutional web page for these dates. https://internacionalizacion.uniandes.edu.co/
  • Impact of GPA on Exchange/Double Degree applications: This is one of the factors considered, along with recommendation letters from faculty and the motivation video.

How to Make a Motivational Video:

It is very important that you follow the criteria we provide for the evaluation of the video. Additionally, the video should be easy to view and listen to normally; it must be creative, demonstrating your communicative skills in English, and have a clear structure. It should clearly show your motivation for wanting to go to that university, city, and/or program.

Instructions for Creating the Exchange Program Video:

Starting in August 2024, the School of Management decided to adjust the evaluation requirements for undergraduate exchange program applications. Specifically, for the new calls, beginning with the 2025-20 academic year, all undergraduate students in Management must submit a video that will replace the motivation essay.

In this video, students must explain:

    I. How the exchange program contributes to the student’s personal and professional project.

II. The reasons for choosing the destination universities and program.

III. What skills the student has that could benefit the students at the host university.

Considerations to Keep in Mind When Making the Video:

    • The video must be uploaded to a folder in SharePoint. This file should include your first and last name and be named as: “Motivational Video_Name”. The link will be provided in the form that must be completed in MoveOn by all students interested in applying for the exchange program.
    • It is the student’s responsibility to ensure that the video file is uploaded to SharePoint and can be easily viewed for evaluation.
    • The duration should be a maximum of 3 minutes.
    • The video must be in English.
    • It should reflect the student’s creativity, communicative skills in English, and have a clear structure.
    • It is very important that at the beginning of the video, the student introduces themselves and indicates the semester they belong to.
    • The video does not need to be in a professional format. It is a homemade video that can be made using a cell phone camera.
    • The student applying for the exchange program must appear in the video.
    • The video should have good sound and lighting so that the message the student wants to share is clear.

The following criteria will be considered for the evaluation of the video:

    • Time management: The student respects the indicated time for the creation of the video. Good time management involves planning the speech, adhering to the activity instructions, and considering the characteristics of the audience.

    International Summer School

    • Cost: The costs change every year. You can check the costs for the latest version at the following link:
    • Elective Credit: Yes, each course from our International Summer School counts as an elective, and the recognition is direct (you do not need to go through the equivalency process on the platform).
    • Does it count towards the required English courses? No, they do not count if they are also required for the international experience. In that case, you must take an additional course (which will then count towards the English course requirement

    International requirement

The objective is to provide students with a global perspective and develop intercultural competencies, enhancing their readiness to address the demands of a highly dynamic and globalized work environment.
