To strengthen the Accounting Discipline within Universidad de los Andes School of Management, the School invited Professor Stephen Salter during 6 weeks.
Professor Salter is part of the Accounting Department of Middle Tennessee State University and has published in the Journal of International Business Studies, Behavioral Research in Accounting, Journal of Information Systems, Journal of Business Ethics and Journal of International Accounting Research, among others. Until 2017 he was Associate Editor of both the Journal of International Accounting and Research and Advances in International Accounting.
During his visit, he had the opportunity to develop an agenda that combined academic activities that included: his participation in the First Cycle of Accounting Research developed by Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, Universidad Externado and Universidad de los Andes; the development of the course Managerial Accounting and Control within our Graduate School; and research seminars with professors and students.
As part of his work plan during this almost two months, Professor Salter worked together with Professor Rosa González to develop a strategy for a conjoint research agenda in the accounting discipline at UASM.
Here are some thoughts and anecdotes that Professor Salter shared with us, prior to his return to Tennessee:
