The only School of Management in Colombia with the Triple Accreditation recognition
Simon Turner’s research interests lie in the application of social science theory and methods to study, and to help improve, the management of public services, particularly health care. He teaches how to apply organisation theory to real-world challenges at undergraduate and MBA level. He joined the School from the University of Manchester, where he was Senior Lecturer in Health Policy and Organisation.
At Manchester, he developed a new distance learning course on the Masters in Public Health and lectured on the undergraduate medical programme. He has over 18 years’ post-doctoral research experience, having held research positions at University College London, King´s College London, London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, and University of Cambridge.
He holds a PhD in economic geography from the University of Durham and undergraduate and masters degrees in human geography from the University of Birmingham. He was until recently principal investigator of a nationally-funded study on the coordination of change in response to Covid-19 within the Colombian health system.
He has published over 50 peer reviewed articles in core international journals spanning management, medicine, and social science, including Journal of Medical Humanities, Implementation Science, British Medical Journal, Social Science and Medicine, Sociology of Health & Illness, International Journal of Health Policy and Management, Public Administration, Research Evaluation, Social Policy & Administration, PLOS One, and Public Management Review. He is currently Associate Editor of PLoS One; honorary Research Associate, Centre for Business Research, University of Cambridge; Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy; and a visiting academic in the School of Social Sciences and Humanities, Loughborough University.
