The entrepreneurial talent of Universidad de los Andes continues to make an impact on the international stage. In the 2025 edition of the Cornell EMI Mark Mobius Pitch Competition, two ventures from our community—Docokids and PACTA—were selected among 51 startups representing 28 institutions and 23 countries, consolidating the global positioning of ideas born and nurtured at our University.
Docokids was chosen as a finalist and PACTA as runner-up in a competition that this year focuses on the theme “AI Innovations for Emerging Markets.” The grand finale will take place on November 6 at Cornell University in New York, where they will compete against teams from Brazil, Egypt, and the United States for a USD 10,000 prize.
Since 2020, Universidad de los Andes has maintained uninterrupted participation in this competition, consistently placing its representatives among the finalists year after year. Previous standout ventures include:
- 2020: Human Leap – logistics and blockchain solutions
- 2021: WALLO ID – identity verification technology
- 2022: OMI – real estate security platform
- 2023: PRAMI – agile credit solutions for rural and intermediate areas, and Macondo, an investment portal later acquired by British fintech Briksave
- 2024: ProInvesting – investment hub founded by institutional broker-dealers
A key factor in this success has been the support of the Entrepreneurship Center at Universidad de los Andes School of Management, which has guided teams through every stage of the process—from internal calls and strategic training sessions to personalized mentoring and pitch preparation.
This collaboration demonstrates that when talent is combined with a strong support ecosystem, results transcend borders. Five consecutive years competing among the best in the world is not only a source of pride but also clear evidence of the transformative potential of entrepreneurship at Universidad de los Andes.
